New US ambassador arrives in Russia
New US Ambassador to Russia Lynn Tracy has arrived in Moscow.
The US Embassy in Russia made the announcement on January 25, posting a photo of the ambassador in one of Moscow's airports.
"Welcome back to Russia, Ambassador Tracy," the photo's caption reads.
On December 21, 2022, the Senate of the US Congress approved Lynn Tracy for the post of US Ambassador to Russia. Tracy is the first woman in this position. She is a career diplomat. Until recently, she headed the US diplomatic mission in Armenia.
At the end of November, the diplomat at a hearing in the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Senate of the US Congres on the approval of her candidacy said that she agreed with Washington's sanctions course against Moscow and supported the further tightening of anti-Russian restrictions. She noted that she would consider the release of Americans in custody in Russia a priority.
