New World Bank manager appointed for Azerbaijan

Sarah Michael, the World Bank country manager for Azerbaijan, will end her term on 1 July.

She will be replaced by Stefanie Stallmeister, according to Report.

The new country manager was previously a World Bank manager for operations in Vietnam, East Asia and the Pacific.

Michael will continue to work at the World Bank headquarters in Washington, DC, as the country manager for the Middle East and North Africa Region (MENA).

Azerbaijan joined the World Bank, the world’s largest multilateral development finance organization, in September 1992, after the country had regained independence. Over the past thirty years, the Bank has financed more than 50 investment projects amounting to over $4.5 billion in loans and credits, along with a wide range of knowledge-sharing, capacity-building and technical assistance activities in support of national priorities and needs.
