Newspaper: Armenian authorities rush to appoint head of Defence Ministry's conscription service
The authorities are rushing to appoint the head of the conscription and mobilisation replenishment service of the Armenian Defence Ministry, Zhokhovurd daily writes.
The matter is that they don't have a suitable candidate, but the draft is underway, and it is inadmissible to leave such a position vacant, Caliber.Az reports citing the newspaper.
According to the newspaper, as a result of backdoor discussions, the authorities came to the conclusion that Lieutenant Colonel Aren Sarkisyan, head of the conscription department of the Republican Military Committee, could be a good candidate.
"It's no secret that Pashinyan will eventually appoint one of his 'favourites', as is usual for such responsible positions; but 'favourites' mostly fail. The number of deaths of soldiers in peaceful conditions is a testimony to that," the newspaper writes.
To remind, on August 25, Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan dismissed Armen Avtandilyan, the head of the Ministry of Defence's conscription and mobilisation service.
