No response yet from Iran on US draft memorandum — Mehr

Iran is still reviewing the final text of a possible memorandum of understanding with the United States and has not yet issued an official response, an informed source told Mehr News Agency.

“The final text from the Iranian side is still under discussion in Tehran, and the response has not yet been sent. (...) Past experience of violations of commitments by the United States and historical pessimism force Iran to approach this issue with extreme caution. (...) Based on previous experience, Iran seeks tangible benefits. (...) The United States is concerned about war, while we are concerned about an agreement; since the United States has spent a lot on war but has not achieved success,” the source stated.

The reports also stressed that Iran has previously faced breaches of commitments by the other side and therefore insists that the basic principles are reversibility of processes in case of violations and concrete practical steps for implementation.
