Novel Turkish domestic engine propels ATMACA missile, ending reliance on France PHOTO/VIDEO
The Turkish anti-ship missile ATMACA, developed by defence firm Roketsan, has achieved a successful flight using the national turbojet rocket engine KTJ-3200.
This achievement comes after the missile originally featured the French TR40 engine, a hurdle that delayed its full-scale serial production due to supply difficulties from France, Caliber.Az reports, citing X page of SavunmaSanayiST.com.

The KTJ-3200 turbojet engine, exclusively developed by Kale Arge using domestic resources, is optimized for unmanned aerial platforms, including cruise missiles and target aircraft. The successful flight test took place as the ATMACA missile was launched from the BARBAROS coastal defence complex.
During the firing test, the ATMACA missile engaged the KTJ-3200 engine and seamlessly completed all assigned tasks in the test scenario. This successful test marks a crucial milestone in replacing the original French engine and paves the way for the ATMACA missile's accelerated production with a domestic engine.
The domestication of the ATMACA missile's engine is seen as a strategic move to overcome supply challenges and enhance Türkiye's self-sufficiency in defence technology. The missile's initial reliance on the French TR40 engine faced complications due to difficulties in supply from France.
The introduction of the domestic engine is expected to propel the export activities of ATMACA missiles, showcasing Türkiye's capability to produce advanced defence systems independently. The KTJ-3200 engine's successful integration into the ATMACA missile positions Türkiye as a key player in the development of cutting-edge military technology.
