12 November 2025 14:50
A railway connecting China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan is set to become the shortest route linking Central and South Asia, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Transport, Ilkhom Makhkamov said.
Addressing the International Forum on Multimodal Transport, Minister Makhkamov highlighted that the planned Trans-Afghan railway will further expand connectivity, granting Uzbekistan and other Central Asian nations direct access to the Indian Ocean via Pakistani ports, Caliber.Az reports.
Together, these rail routes are expected to form a continuous multimodal corridor within the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor, ultimately enabling seamless transport from China to Europe, he said.
