Official: Putin heads to Kazakhstan for EAEU summit, talks with Tokayev

Russian President Vladimir Putin will travel to Kazakhstan on May 27 for a state visit and to attend meetings of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), presidential aide Yury Ushakov has said.

According to Ushakov, Putin will arrive in the Kazakh capital in the evening, where he will be met by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.

The two leaders are expected to hold a one-on-one meeting over lunch on the first day of the visit.

They will discuss bilateral relations between Russia and Kazakhstan, as well as regional and international developments.

On the following day, May 28, Putin will take part in EAEU events scheduled to run through May 29.

Ushakov said Putin and Tokayev remain in regular contact. He added that the two presidents have met 38 times since Tokayev took office.
