Official: Türkiye ready to support security of shipping in Strait of Hormuz
Türkiye expressed readiness to support the security of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz following a US–Iran memorandum aimed at ending their conflict.
The Ministry of National Defence expressed satisfaction with the signing of the agreement, and voiced hope that it would help lay the foundations for “lasting peace, security and stability” across the region, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Ankara said it would continue to prioritise regional stability and support diplomatic efforts to resolve disputes, stressing the importance of dialogue and restraint among all parties.
“In this context, it is crucial that all stakeholders demonstrate vigilance, restraint and responsibility in order to preserve the agreements and prevent attempts to sabotage dialogue,” the ministry said.
It added that developments in the Strait of Hormuz are being closely monitored, describing the waterway as strategically vital for global energy flows and maritime trade.
Türkiye underlined its readiness to contribute, within the framework of international law, to initiatives aimed at ensuring the uninterrupted movement of shipping and energy supplies.
