Official: US strikes in Yemen destroy key Houthi leaders
US National Security Advisor Michael Waltz has confirmed that in a series of targeted US military strikes in Yemen, several leaders of the Houthi movement Ansar Allah were eliminated.
While Waltz did not disclose the names of the specific leaders targeted, he revealed that one of them was a key missile commander, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
The strikes, which were part of an ongoing effort to disrupt the Houthi group's operations, targeted several critical locations, including the group's headquarters, communication hubs, and facilities involved in the production of weapons and surface-to-surface drones.
Earlier, the US carried out strikes on more than 60 targets linked to the Houthi movement in Yemen since March 15 and plans to deploy reinforcements to the Middle East.
Thus, the strikes, conducted between 15 and 19 March, targeted Houthi engineers and officials involved in the group's drone programme, as well as drone operators.
The US aims to continue daily strikes against the Iran-aligned group until it halts attacks on commercial vessels and American warships in the Red Sea.
The administration of President Donald Trump intends to bolster US military presence in the Middle East, the official said.
