Oligarch-linked party to contest Armenia’s 2026 parliamentary elections

A political party being established by Russian businessman Samvel Karapetyan, who was previously detained in Yerevan, is set to participate in Armenia’s 2026 parliamentary elections.

Karapetyan’s nephew, Narek Karapetyan, confirmed the plans, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.

“In the near future, Armenia will witness electoral processes, and the most effective way to participate is through a political party,” he said.

He added that “at the next stage of our activity, we are preparing to turn the projects developed by professionals within our movement into state-level initiatives through parliamentary participation. We are confident that we will be able to implement them as a result of the upcoming 2026 elections.”
