Omani, Iranian foreign ministers discuss Strait of Hormuz shipping

Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi met with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, Oman’s Foreign Ministry said.

The ministers discussed efforts to overcome differences in regional relations, as well as the latest developments in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf.

They stressed the importance of maintaining diplomatic contacts to build trust, seek compromise solutions and address outstanding issues while taking into account the interests of all parties.

The officials also discussed the security of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and freedom of transit, issues that are important for international trade and energy supplies.
