Ombudswoman briefs OSCE PA president about human rights protection in Azerbaijan
Azerbaijani Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudswoman) Sabina Aliyeva met a visiting delegation led by OSCE Parliamentary Assembly President (OSCE PA) Pia Kauma.
The meeting was also attended by Chairman of the Western Azerbaijani Community MP Aziz Alakbarli, Deputy Chairman MP Hikmat Babaoglu, member of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE MP Kamal Jafarov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Austria and Permanent Representative to the OSCE Rovshan Sadigbayli, the Ombudswoman's Office told APA.
At the meeting, Sabina Aliyeva spoke in detail about the mandate of the Ombudswoman and her activities in the field of protecting human rights and freedoms.
She added that Azerbaijan has put forward initiatives to ensure sustainable peace in the region and create favorable conditions for living together in the future, but Armenia has not taken any steps towards building peace in the region or ensuring the rights of Azerbaijanis to return.
At the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the prospects for further cooperation between the agencies.
