Azerbaijani presidential aide says Turkish journalist distorted his remarks

05 August 2026 20:23

Azerbaijani presidential aide and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev has stated that a publication by a Turkish journalist in which remarks attributed to him did not reflect his actual position.

In a post on X, Hajiyev said the meeting with the representatives of Turkish media were interesting; however, he regretted to note that in the report published by Türkiye Gazetesi journalist Yılmaz Bilgen on August 5, 2026, some statements attributed to him were presented in a distorted manner, Caliber.Az reports.

“We had an interesting meeting with representatives of Turkish media who were visiting Azerbaijan. However, I regret to note that in the report published by Türkiye Gazetesi journalist Yılmaz Bilgen on August 5, 2026, some statements attributed to me were presented in a distorted manner. A number of expressions cited in the article as my remarks are not true. Once again, I would like to emphasize that the Republic of Azerbaijan, guided by its national interests, pursues an independent and principled foreign policy," Hajiyev noted.
