"Only Azerbaijani law enforcement bodies can establish order in Armenia" Khachatryan clarified why he left the Armenian Nazi "without a nose"

14 June 2022 13:00

As Caliber.Az reported earlier, on April 14, the bas-relief of the Armenian war criminal and occupant of Azerbaijani lands during the First Karabakh war Leonid Azgaldyan was "desecrated" in Yerevan.

Caliber.Az reports with reference to the Yerevan-based Hraparak daily, that this story took an unexpected turn. It turned out that Yerevan resident Karen Khachatryan, who had broken the "monument", came to the editorial office of the newspaper in the following days and told why he had done so.

"I broke the monument, and I did the right thing, because of him and people like him the 44-day war happened," said Khachatryan, who came to the editorial office of the Yerevan daily to talk about how his case is being investigated and how unfairly he has been treated by the Armenian investigative authorities.

"I want to tell you what is going on in the Investigative Department of the Kentron Administrative District, as well as in other departments. Rampant injustice reigns everywhere. One of the department's investigators, Razmik Safaryan, offered me a bribe to withdraw one of my complaints. Another investigator, Nelly Grigoryan, offered to return my stolen items if I withdrew my complaint.

I reiterate that I broke the statue of Leonid Azgaldyan because it is because of him and people like him our nation is in its current state. It is because of him that we have had so many victims both in 2020 and for 30 years before that," Khachatryan stated.

The Yerevan resident said that he will be sued for damages.

"The sculptor first demanded 10 million drams ($22,500) for repairing the nose on Azgaldyan's bas-relief. Then they realized that it was a fantastic amount and reduced their demands to 3 million drams ($7,100)," Karen Khachatryan noted.

He stressed that he respects Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and claims that he bears no responsibility for what is going on in Armenia now. Karen Khachatryan blames everything on those who, led by war criminal Leonid Azgaldyan, went to the central square of Yerevan in 1988.

"In the 90s, a senseless bandit attack was committed on our neighbouring state. We occupied their land for 30 years, and now we are responsible for it. I am for justice, I defend those who are just. In addition, I would like to say that our Armenian nation is still suffering because of Azgaldyan, a traitor to his homeland. Is Azerbaijan an enemy to us, what have they done wrong to us? Have they seized land, what have they done, have they committed murders, what bad have they done to us? Azerbaijanis finally liberated their lands, and did they occupy our lands? The traitors of the Armenian people have occupied the lands of Azerbaijan and set us on fire," Khachatryan told the Armenian edition.

He then told of being tortured at the police station by two police officers for "breaking the nose of a madman."

"Another traitor was Vazgen Sargsyan. I want to draw the attention of the Azerbaijani investigative authorities to deal with all my complaints. I am sure that they will do the right thing. It would be nice to invite the Azerbaijani law enforcement bodies to Armenia. Only Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies can bring order to Armenia, to clear France Square from this opposition. Pashinyan is a fair man, and I see justice in his actions. This man is not allowed to do his righteous job. Armenian law enforcers do not share my ideas and those of Nikol Pashinyan. When I said that Karabakh belongs to Azerbaijan, they got angry. Many police officers do not like the ideas of the leader of our country. They openly told me about it," Karen Khachatryan concluded.

It should be noted that the war criminal Azgaldyan was at the root of the Armenian separatist movement in Karabakh, and took an active part in the ethnic cleansing of the Azerbaijani population and the occupation of Azerbaijani villages and towns. He was killed by Azerbaijani Armed Forces on June 21, 1992, in the Aghdere District.
