Opposition in Armenia wants to change power
“The goal of the opposition is not saving Karabakh, but a power change. They want to replace us.”
The remarks came from the Secretary of the parliamentary faction of Armenia’s ruling “Civil contract” party, Arthur Hovannisyan, in a traditional press briefing at the National Assembly (parliament) on May 5, 2022, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Armenian media.
According to Hovannisyan, the opposition only voices calls for Karabakh and that’s all.
“But the people hanging the Karabakh flag on the streets of Yerevan cannot save it [Karabakh]. They have completely different goals,” he said.
Hovannisyan added that the opposition was more than once publicly and privately invited to come and get acquainted with various documents on the Karabakh issue and get any information that cannot yet be made public.
The representatives of the parliamentary factions of the opposition blocs of Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan, "Armenia", and third president Serzh Sargsyan, "I have the honor", did not reportedly come the traditional media briefing organized in the National Assembly on Thursday. Only parliamentarians from the ruling Civil Contract party answered the journalists' questions.
