Orban arrives in Kyrgyzstan for bilateral talks and OTS Summit
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has landed in Kyrgyzstan to engage with the country's leadership.
This visit was confirmed by the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan through their Telegram channel, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.
Orban's trip to Bishkek is centred around high-level discussions aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation between Hungary and Kyrgyzstan. The two nations are expected to sign several documents to bolster their relations, as indicated by the republic's press office.
In addition to bilateral talks, Orban will participate in the 11th summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) scheduled for November 6. Hungary, which holds observer status in the OTS, has expressed a strong interest in joining the organization due to its historical Turkic connections. The OTS currently includes member states such as Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye and Uzbekistan.
The summit, taking place in Bishkek, will convene heads of state from Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan, along with representatives from observer countries and OTS secretaries general. The theme for this year’s summit is “Strengthening the Turkic World: Economic Integration, Sustainable Development, Digital Future, and Security for All,” providing a platform for leaders to discuss vital issues and cooperation within the organization.
During the summit, participants will deliberate on the future of multilateral collaboration under the OTS, address pressing topics on the agenda, and finalize several multilateral agreements, including the Summit's Final Declaration.
Furthermore, Kyrgyzstan is set to assume the chairmanship of the Organization of Turkic States for 2025, with plans to implement initiatives aimed at enhancing ties between member states and fostering economic growth in the region.
