OTS to hold media forum in Türkiye in 2026, deputy secretary general says
The Media Forum of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) will take place in Türkiye in 2026, Deputy Secretary General Omer Kocaman told journalists during a briefing in Baku.
Kocaman said recent communiqués and declarations adopted by the organisation have placed particular emphasis on two priority areas: youth and sports, and media and communications. He noted that OTS member states continue to face coordinated disinformation efforts, making cooperation in the information sphere increasingly important, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
According to Kocaman, the communiqué adopted at the meeting in Baku outlines plans to deepen collaboration among member states’ media institutions. He said the first off-site meeting under this framework is expected to be held in Türkiye, where the Presidential Communications Directorate operates a specialised Center for Combating Disinformation.
During the visit, Türkiye is expected to share its expertise with other member states before similar exchanges are organised in additional countries.
The Deputy Secretary General also said that Türkiye will host the OTS Media Forum next year. He noted that a new communiqué will be adopted during the event, which he said is expected to further strengthen cooperation and ties among member nations.
