Over 10 explosions hit Saratov as Russia repels Ukrainian drones overnight
On the night of January 18 to 19, powerful explosions rang out over Russia's Saratov overnight — air defence systems were actively repelling an attack by Ukrainian drones.
According to local residents quoted by SHOT, more than ten loud explosions were heard, the first of them occurring around 3:10 a.m. local time.
Preliminary reports indicate that several drones were destroyed. Residents of the nearby city of Engels also reported hearing sirens and distant bangs.
No information has yet been received about any damage or casualties. Earlier, the governor of the Saratov region, Roman Busargin, warned of the threat of a drone attack. Due to the ongoing situation, temporary restrictions have been imposed at the airports of Saratov and neighbouring Penza — the airports are temporarily not accepting or dispatching flights.
