Over 10 people killed in shooting near Iranian police station

Several gunmen have fired at a police station in Iran’s Zahedan city in Sistan and Balochistan province.

According to the authorities, 19 people, including Colonel of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Seyyed Ali Mousavi, were killed. Some 20 people were injured, Al Alam reports on October 1.

The state media outlets said that the incident is a terrorist attack. A group of believers was shelled when they were leaving a mosque near the police station.

It is unknown whether the shootout is related to the mass protests in Iran for several weeks. During this period, dozens of people died and hundreds were detained.
