Over 100 vehicles collide due to black ice in Armenia's Ararat One dead, two injured
Heavy traffic accidents involving over 100 cars have occurred on the Yerevаn–Eraskh highway in Armenia's Ararat region due to black ice.
As a result of the series of collisions, one person died, and two others were injured. The accidents took place at around 08:00 on a 2-3 kilometre stretch of road near the communities of Masis and Marmarashen, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
The collisions formed significant traffic congestion. Authorities have launched a criminal investigation into the matter.
A photographer at the scene reported that the road was “foggy and icy,” and that local road services had not taken any action to address the hazardous conditions. After the accidents, over 20 drivers decided to leave the scene before local traffic police arrived.
