Over 8,000 people still in evacuation centres due to floods in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is still taking flood control measures, warning citizens, and eliminating the consequences of floods in its regions.

Special attention is paid to the Zhaiyk River in West Kazakhstan and Atyrau, the Kazakh media reported citing the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Caliber.Az reports.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, 22,734 people throughout the country returned home. Some 8,809 people, including 3,828 children, are still in evacuation centres.

Around 36,484 people are involved and 5,083 pieces of equipment, 888 water pumping equipment, 381 watercraft, and 16 aircraft are used in rescue and flood control operations.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations urges residents to observe safety measures during the flood.
