Pakistan, Tajikistan's chief legislators hail Azerbaijan’s constitutional independence, global standing
The constitution serves as a bridge between the state and its people, Pakistani Senate Chairman Said Yusuf Raza Gilani stated at an international parliamentary conference in the Azerbaijani Parliament.
During the conference, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s Constitution and themed "The Constitution as the Foundation of Independence and Sovereignty of States in the Contemporary World," Gilani highlighted Azerbaijan’s commitment to constitutional sovereignty under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
“Declaring this year as the Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty in Azerbaijan demonstrates dedication to these values.”
He emphasised that Azerbaijan safeguards its independence and sovereignty by adhering to modern principles.
“The erosion of values globally, cyber threats, and disinformation campaigns pose various challenges to state independence. In this context, attention must be paid to principles of shared responsibility,” he added.

Addressing the event, Chairman of Tajikistan’s Supreme Assembly Faizali Idizoda said Azerbaijan has steadily strengthened its international standing over the past 30 years.
“The 30th anniversary of the Constitution is not merely a ceremonial occasion, but a symbol of the resilience and maturity of Azerbaijani statehood. The Constitution forms the foundation of any state, and time has shown that Azerbaijan’s Basic Law contains all necessary principles to reinforce peace and stability not only domestically but also on the international stage,” Idizoda said.
He also underscored the strong Azerbaijan–Tajikistan relationship, noting the pivotal role of the two countries’ leaders: “Relations between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan exemplify strategic partnership. They are strengthened through the efforts and vision of our leaders — Ilham Aliyev and Emomali Rahmon. Regular mutual visits by the heads of state contribute significantly to the development of bilateral cooperation.”
Idizoda added that parliamentarians from both countries are committed to further enhancing Azerbaijan–Tajikistan relations to ensure they continue to serve the interests of both peoples.
