Pakistani PM: Adding more permanent members to UNSC to undermine its authority

Adding additional permanent members to the UN Security Council will undermine its authority and legitimacy, Pakistan's acting Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, speaking at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.

"Pakistan believes that adding more permanent members to the UNSC will further undermine its credibility and legitimacy," he said, according to TASS.

"The broadest possible consensus can best be achieved through a proposal by the UFC (Unity for Consensus) movement to increase the number of only non-permanent members with a limited number of seats for a longer term," Kakar added.
