Paralympic Committee eyes to permanently suspend Russia's membership
President of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) Pavel Rozhkov has said that representatives of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) stated that they intend to prepare well for the general assembly in Bahrain to permanently suspend RPC’s membership in IPC.
“The International Olympic Committee intends to ban our Olympic team’s participation in the Asian Games. The Organising Committee of the Asian Games is common, now they think what they can do in this situation with the Paralympians,” according to Gazeta.ru.
“Bahrain will hold the second general assembly on September 27. The IPC will be better prepared to permanently suspend RPC’s membership. We are actively working with the Ministry of Sports, the Foreign Ministry and legal organisations to represent ourselves at this assembly with dignity. We hope for the ongoing positive developments in Asia and Africa and that we can adequately respond to the IPC executive committee in Bahrain,” Rozhkov added.
The IPC General Assembly will be held in Bahrain on September 27. The RPC restored its rights through the IPC tribunal in May and applied for participation in the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris in August.
