Paris prosecutor opens two investigations into Epstein case
The Paris Prosecutor’s Office has announced the launch of extensive investigations linked to human trafficking and financial crimes involving contacts of convicted US sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The announcement was reported by France Info, citing Prosecutor Laurence Beccuau.
According to her, the investigation will rely on publicly available materials and complaints filed by child protection organisations. Prosecutors expressed hope that renewed attention on the Epstein case might encourage victims of human trafficking who had not previously come forward to contact law enforcement.
Five prosecutors will examine files released by the US Department of Justice to determine whether any French citizens may have been involved in sexual or financial crimes.
