Parliament Speaker questions transparency of Kocharyan-led Armenia bloc
The Speaker of the Parliament of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, has questioned former president Robert Kocharyan as to whether his electorate is genuinely supporting him or, in effect, directing their votes toward the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun).
As Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media, Simonyan raised the issue in a public statement, putting forward three direct questions to Kocharyan:
“Three questions to R. Kocharyan:
When in Vanadzor he positively answered the question that Armenia should be semi-presidential, was this his personal opinion or also the opinion of the ARF ‘Dashnaktsutyun’, which is part of the alliance?
If the ‘Armenia’ bloc manages to pass the electoral threshold, will the MPs take their seats in the committees of the National Assembly, will they participate in sessions and other legally mandated activities?
Will he personally come to the National Assembly, or do voters of the ‘Armenia’ bloc actually vote for the ARF ‘Dashnaktsutyun’?” the statement by Simonyan reads.
