Pashinyan ally: Armenian church must be saved from Garegin II
Taron Chakhoyan, Deputy Head of the Armenian Prime Minister’s Office, slammed Ktrich Nersisyan (Garegin II) for signing a 2018 charter of the Armenian community in Russia, registering the Church’s official name as the “Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church,” and called for action to protect the Church from such decisions.
Chakhoyan wrote on Facebook that the opposition cannot challenge Ktrich Nersisyan for changing the name of a centuries-old Church from Apostolic to Orthodox, Caliber.Az reports.
“The opposition, playing ‘defenders’ and ‘saviours’ of the Church, has nothing to say to Ktrich Nersisyan, who changed the name of a millennium-old Church, turning Apostolic into Orthodox?
Rushing to ‘save’ the Throne without considering each other, they do not want to save the historic name of the Church?
In reality, the Church needs to be saved from Ktrich and from such ‘saviours,’” Chakhoyan noted.
