Pashinyan: Armenia marks two years of peace with Azerbaijan
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that strengthening peace with Azerbaijan is now a key priority, marking two years since the cessation of hostilities between the two countries.
In a post on social media, cited by Azerbaijani media, Pashinyan emphasised that maintaining and reinforcing the existing peace remains the central task for Armenia.
“We are marking the 81st anniversary of the victory over fascism in difficult international conditions... On May 9, 2026, we also mark peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. For two years now there have been no clashes, no victims and no wounded. This is a very important achievement for the first time since our country gained independence,” he wrote.
Pashinyan stressed that the focus now is on safeguarding the peace that has been achieved and strengthening it further.
He added that the current period of stability represents a historic opportunity for Armenia, enabling conditions for the country’s prosperity and long-term development.
