09 April 2026 21:11

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev met to discuss strengthening bilateral ties, highlighting a new railway link via Azerbaijan as a key driver for expanding trade, economic cooperation, and regional connectivity.

Pashinyan emphasized the strategic nature of Armenia–Kazakhstan relations, noting that recent high-level reciprocal visits have generated new momentum for expanding multilateral cooperation between the two nations, as reflected in their busy bilateral agenda, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

The Prime Minister underlined that recent regional developments have further strengthened ties. “The newly established railway connection through Azerbaijan, Russia, and Georgia provides additional incentives for expanding trade and economic relations,” he said.

Kosherbayev conveyed warm greetings from Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and noted that productive discussions had been held with Armenian counterparts on all matters of mutual interest. He expressed confidence that the railway link would significantly enhance bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

The Kazakh FM also stressed the importance of unblocking regional transport routes and reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s support for Armenia’s TRIPP and “Crossroads of Peace” initiatives, highlighting his country’s interest in implementing these projects and expanding regional trade and economic connections.

Pashinyan and Kosherbayev further discussed collaboration in infrastructure, construction, agriculture, technology, air transport, and tourism. Both leaders underlined the significance of launching direct flights between Armenia and Kazakhstan in the near future. The discussions also included plans for an upcoming visit by a delegation of Armenian business leaders to Kazakhstan, aimed at boosting economic cooperation and strengthening business ties between the two countries.
