Pashinyan says Armenia must recover billions in illegal assets by 2031

Armenia must recover $2 billion worth of illegal assets by 2031, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a government meeting.

The prime minister emphasised that such a target is becoming increasingly realistic as legal mechanisms for the confiscation of illicit assets, including funds and real estate, begin to operate fully, Caliber.Az reports.

For nearly eight years, until the end of 2025, these mechanisms had been under development, as relevant legislation was being formed, including after a decision by the Constitutional Court and the adoption of other legal acts. However, the mechanisms are now in force, and the country should achieve the stated goal by 2031, Pashinyan added.

He noted that these objectives are also outlined in the government's program for 2026–2031, which was discussed with the prime minister the previous day.
