Pashinyan says Armenia will not delay implementation of TRIPP corridor video

11 March 2026 16:47

Armenia has no plans to delay the implementation of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said while addressing the European Parliament.

Pashinyan stated that there are currently no reasons to postpone the project and reaffirmed Yerevan’s readiness to move forward with its implementation.

The Armenian prime minister noted that Yerevan is already using transit routes passing through Azerbaijan and said Armenia stands ready at any time to ensure transit between Azerbaijan and Türkiye. However, he added that Ankara and Baku have so far not taken advantage of the reciprocal proposal put forward by the Armenian side.

Pashinyan also expressed confidence that the positions of Armenia and Azerbaijan on reopening regional transport communications are not contradictory and, in his view, reflect the interests of both countries.

“We live in a turbulent region, and shocks will affect us as well if we do not take care of ourselves. Conflicts [between us] make our statehood vulnerable and make us a good geopolitical target,” he said.

The issue of restoring regional connectivity gained renewed momentum following a summit hosted by Donald Trump at the White House on August 8, 2025. The meeting brought together Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

During the talks, the two leaders initialled a draft peace agreement and signed a joint declaration committing to the normalisation of relations, while also mutually recognising each other’s territorial integrity.

A central component of the discussions was the proposed creation of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP)—a US-developed transit corridor running through Armenia’s southern territory. The route is intended to link mainland Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan exclave and promote broader regional connectivity.
