Pashinyan says Armenians will decide between EU and EAEU
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the decision on whether the country aligns with the European Union or remains in the Eurasian Economic Union will be made by the Armenian people.
Speaking at a campaign meeting with voters in the village of Garni in the Kotayk region ahead of the June parliamentary elections, Pashinyan stressed that the choice does not rest with him but with citizens.
“I say that the Armenian people must have an alternative <...> to be part of the EAEU or to be part of the EU. The people, it is not me who will decide. <...> The strongest will decide. Who is the strongest? The citizen of Armenia is the strongest, it is you who will decide. <...> My task is to ensure that you have alternatives, and you do have alternatives,” he said.
The remarks were broadcast by local television channels as part of coverage of the ongoing election campaign.
