Pashinyan says time to get rid of “sacrificial lamb” status
“The Armenian people must be led out from the status of a “sacrificial lamb,” Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in his remarks about the situation around Karabakh, Caliber.Az reports.
“Today we are told that we have surrendered or want to surrender Karabakh. If we wanted to surrender Karabakh, we would follow up the logic of Serzh Sargsyan's negotiations. Thus, we would have surrendered Karabakh,” Pashinyan said.
According to him, if a referendum was to be held, then it should happen within the timeframe agreed by the parties. Meanwhile, Azerbaijan stated that there would be no referendum in the next 50 years after the return of Azerbaijanis to Karabakh.
“Without Shusha, it was impossible to stop or prevent the war. It's just impossible. I have spoken about this many times,” he said.
The dead soldiers fought for the right not to surrender Karabakh, according to Pashinyan, whose statements concern “not surrendering Karabakh”.
If the path proposed by the Armenian authorities is not followed, then Karabakh, according to Pashinyan, will be handed over bit by bit.
“If we take a different path, we will surrender Karabakh. The events in Farrukh are an example for you. Bit by bit. Stop deceiving each other,” the Armenian prime minister said.
Speaking about his recent speech, he said that the country's authorities are making a path to the preservation of statehood.
“We are opening the way to, sorry for the expression, to lead our people out of the status of a sacrificial lamb… We did not decide whether there would be a war or not, we did not decide anything. Today I say that Armenia is a sovereign country, and we must return the right to decide something by ourselves. Because we are a country, not a barn. We are citizens, not sacrificial lambs, so that in different places they decide how and how many of us to cut or forgive,” Pashinyan said.
The Armenian prime minister said he would not allow future generations to inherit this status.
