Pashinyan: Türkiye backs Yerevan’s bid to host European Political Community summit
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said that Türkiye has expressed support for Armenia’s plan to host the European Political Community (EPC) summit in Yerevan in 2026.
Speaking to members of the Armenian community in Istanbul, Pashinyan said that he extended an invitation to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to attend the event, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
“I also invite him to Armenia to participate in the European Political Community summit, which will take place next spring in Yerevan, with the support of Türkiye. I hope that next year our meeting will already take place in Armenia,” Pashinyan stated.
He also highlighted the importance of current regional developments, mentioning the ongoing direct flight between Istanbul and Yerevan and voicing confidence that the land border between Armenia and Türkiye could also reopen.
The eighth EPC summit is scheduled to take place in Armenia in the spring of 2026.
