Passenger dies on Guangzhou–Almaty flight
Kazakh authorities have confirmed the death of a passenger on a flight from Guangzhou to Almaty.
The Transport Police Department informed that a woman died on board the aircraft en route to Kazakhstan, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakh media.
A post shared on social media had criticised the absence of medical professionals on flights, stating: “A woman died on the flight from Guangzhou to Almaty. I believe every aircraft should have a doctor capable of providing first aid.”
According to officials, a criminal case has been opened by the Line Police Department at Almaty Airport. The preliminary cause of death has been identified as a chronic medical condition, though investigators noted that the exact circumstances are still being established.
A procedural decision will be taken once the inquiry is complete. Further details are not being disclosed under Article 201 of Kazakhstan’s Criminal Procedure Code, which restricts the release of information during ongoing investigations.
The incident comes only days after a similar case. On December 10, a woman travelling from Aktobe to Almaty fell ill during the flight and could not be saved despite efforts to help her.
