Pentagon: Russia deploys 106 battalion tactical groups in Ukraine
Russian troops have deployed 106 operational battalion tactical groups (BTGs) on the territory of Ukraine.
These troops are grouped in the eastern, central, western, and southern directions. The southern grouping is the largest one, with over 50 BTG attached to it, RBK-Ukraine reports, citing the US Defence Department press service.
The Pentagon reported that they are concentrated between Kherson on the western side and Mariupol on the eastern side, and from northern Zaporozhye up to Velika Novoselka settlement.
Asked how well-equipped Russian troops in Ukraine are, a Pentagon official stated that there are no precise combat and readiness indicators for each BTG yet, and there is no need to talk about a sharp increase in the deployment of Russian troops in the south.
