Ukraine to receive drones from Norway
Norwegian authorities will allocate 1.2 billion Norwegian kroner ($127 million) for deliveries of maritime drones to Ukraine.
The funds will be used to finance the supply of maritime drones to Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
Norway will procure unmanned systems, including from both Norwegian and Ukrainian manufacturers, as part of its long-term Nansen support programme for Ukraine, which runs until 2030.
Norwegian authorities will finance the purchases through the programme, which is designed to support Ukraine over the coming years.
“Norwegian maritime industry is a global leader. I am pleased that this expertise can be used to support Ukraine’s fight,” said Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. He noted that Ukrainian armed forces use maritime drones for offensive operations, defence and reconnaissance.
A meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Støre took place in Tallinn. Earlier in June, Zelenskyy said Norwegian authorities had agreed to support Ukraine with deliveries of air defence systems.
