Belarus, Uzbekistan hold first inter-ministerial consular consultations in Minsk PHOTO
Belarus and Uzbekistan have held their first inter-ministerial consultations on consular matters, marking a new step in bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The talks took place in Minsk on 8 June at the level of deputy foreign ministers, according to Belarusian state news agency BelTA, citing the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.
The Belarusian delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Yevgeny Shestakov, while the Uzbek side was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Olimjon Abdullaev.
Officials from Uzbekistan’s Migration Agency, Belarus’s Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, and the Citizenship and Migration Department of Belarus’s Interior Ministry also participated in the discussions.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the two sides reviewed a broad agenda covering consular cooperation, labour migration, and the development of the legal and treaty framework between Minsk and Tashkent.
Officials said the discussions took place in a constructive and friendly atmosphere, and described the consultations as a sign of strengthening engagement between Belarus and Uzbekistan across multiple areas of mutual interest.
