Pentagon Secretary of Defence: Eight countries to provide Ukraine with Leopard tanks
Pentagon Secretary of Defence Lloyd James Austin has said that eight countries would provide Ukraine with German-made Leopard tanks.
Austin made these remarks during the Ramstein meeting, RBC-Ukraine reports.
He noted that besides the T-72 tanks received from Poland, Ukraine will receive additional tanks from the US and the Czech Republic.
The Secretary of Defence noted that the US, Germany and the Netherlands will provide Ukraine with American-made Patriot air defence systems.
“In turn, France and Italy will send SAMP / T air defence missile systems,” he added.
Austin also noted that a dozen countries have already joined the tank coalition.
The Secretary of Defence noted that Germany, Poland, Canada, Portugal, Spain, Norway, Denmark and the Netherlands will send Leopard tanks, while the US and the Czech Republic will send other weapons.
Austin added that other countries have agreed to help supply the munitions.
The Secretary of Defence did not disclose the details and timing of this military assistance.
