Pezeshkian: Iran acts only within Supreme National Security Council framework
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that all major state decisions are taken within the framework of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) and require coordination with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, underscoring the centralised nature of decision-making in the Islamic Republic.
According to a statement from the presidential press office, Pezeshkian said no decision in Iran is made outside the authority of the Supreme National Security Council or without approval from the Supreme Leader.
He added that once decisions are taken in areas such as foreign policy, all state institutions and political factions are expected to support them to present a unified national position.
“When decisions are made in diplomacy, all bodies, platforms and political currents must back them so that a single, coordinated voice is presented to the world,” he said, according to the statement.
Pezeshkian emphasised that national cohesion and adherence to the Supreme Leader’s guidance were essential to counter external pressure, saying internal unity would prevent Iran’s adversaries from achieving their objectives.
