Pezeshkian says Iran could help resolve Saudi-Houthi conflict

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Tehran could help resolve the conflict between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthi movement, while denying that developments in Yemen were connected to Iran.

Pezeshkian said Iran’s position was to support those facing what he described as oppression, while stressing that the events in Yemen were not linked to Tehran.

He also said Saudi Arabia had the potential to play a role in bringing the Muslim world together.

His remarks come as fighting between Saudi-backed forces and the Houthis has intensified, with the Iran-aligned movement carrying out repeated attacks on Saudi territory and infrastructure. Saudi Arabia has sought additional security assistance from regional and Western partners as the conflict has escalated.

Pezeshkian has previously said the Houthis are responsible for their own actions and do not take direct instructions from Tehran.
