PM: People need real Armenia, rather than forward outpost
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has unveiled the conceptual dilemma being discussed in the country today.
“Is the Republic of Armenia meant to serve as a forward outpost, a foothold for the ambition of expanding into a larger state on a broader territory [the "Historical Armenia" concept], or as a mechanism for ensuring the well-being of its citizens within its internationally recognised borders [the "Real Armenia" concept], envisaging that essential elements of well-being include a dignified life, freedom, justice, and security?" Caliber.Az reports, citing Pashinyan’s message on Telegram.
"I am convinced that our people long ago made their choice in favour of 'Real Armenia'. However, we, as leaders throughout different periods, did not listen to them, instead forcing our people to live in a 'historical cycle'. For this reason, we must apologise to our people, and I, for my part, ask for forgiveness," Pashinyan wrote.
