Poland arrests three over fake fire report at president family apartment
Three young people have been arrested in Poland on suspicion of being responsible for a false report of a fire at an apartment belonging to the family of President Karol Nawrocki, Poland’s Interior Ministry has stated.
It said the detainees are aged around 19–20 and have previously had run-ins with the law, Caliber.Az reports, citing Polish media.
Investigators believe they may have been part of an organized online group involved in sending false emergency alerts and similar activities.
According to Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the group likely acted “for fame” and for the thrill of causing disruption, rather than for ideological reasons.
“Everything indicates that this is a well-organized group of young people who, for fame or personal pleasure and not for ideological motives, have carried out similar acts in the past,” Tusk noted.
The incident occurred on May 23, when an emergency app was used to report a fire and a threat to the life of a minor at an apartment that turned out to belong to Nawrocki’s family.
