Poland’s MFA warns Russia over potential strikes on embassies
Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has warned that any Russian strikes on diplomatic missions will be treated as deliberate hostile acts, responding to a statement from Russia’s Foreign Ministry urging foreign nationals, including diplomats, to leave Kyiv ahead of potential attacks.
In its official statement, the Polish Foreign Ministry said it views Russia’s ongoing attacks on Ukraine—including strikes targeting civilian infrastructure and the population—as “unjustified aggression leading to significant human and material losses.”
The response came after Moscow indicated that it was planning strikes on military facilities and decision-making centres in Kyiv, prompting calls for foreigners to evacuate the Ukrainian capital.
Poland’s foreign ministry stressed that any attacks affecting diplomatic missions would carry serious implications.
“Any strikes on diplomatic missions will be regarded as ‘intentional hostile actions’,” the ministry said.
It further underlined the broader international legal consequences of Russia’s conduct.
“The actions of the Russian Federation have serious international legal consequences, once again undermining its role as a permanent member of the UN Security Council,” the statement said.
The Polish Foreign Ministry also called on Russia to immediately halt its attacks and adhere to international law.
