Police officers assaulted during drug testing in Georgia’s Kutaisi
A routine drug screening at a medical facility in Kutaisi, Georgia, escalated into violence when several individuals assaulted both medical personnel and police officers.
The individuals had been transported to the clinic for mandatory drug testing but refused to comply with the procedure, sparking a confrontation that quickly spiraled out of control, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
The altercation began with threats and aggression toward medical staff before escalating into physical violence directed at law enforcement officers present at the scene.
Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs has confirmed that a criminal investigation is underway. The case has been opened under articles pertaining to “violence” and “assault on a police officer,” both of which carry significant legal consequences under Georgian law.
Authorities have not disclosed the identities of the suspects or the specific circumstances under which they were taken for testing, but media sources indicate that the refusal to undergo the drug test was the initial trigger for the confrontation.
