Polish FM: Access to Russian funds may force Putin to rethink Ukraine war
Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has called for frozen Russian assets to be transferred to Ukraine, arguing that such a move could significantly affect the outcome of the ongoing conflict between Moscow and Kyiv.
Speaking to n-tv, Sikorski said, “If [Russian President Vladimir] Putin concludes that Ukraine has these funds and can finance both the state and its defence for two to three years, he will have to reconsider his ability to continue this war.”
The minister stressed that transferring these assets could become “a crucial factor in accelerating the peace process,” warning that delays could be extremely dangerous for both Ukraine and Europe.
Sikorski also highlighted the need for European countries, including Belgium, to share responsibility and risks related to using Russian assets to support Ukraine.
