Ukrainian Interpol-wanted bank executive detained in Norway PHOTO
A Ukrainian bank executive who had been wanted internationally since September 2025 has been detained in Norway after arriving in the country on a ferry from Denmark, according to Norwegian media outlet VG.
The 45-year-old man, whose identity has not been publicly disclosed, was taken into custody upon arrival in Kristiansand, with authorities confirming the arrest took place directly at the pier.

“He confirmed his identity by providing his name and a photograph. He was detained on the basis of an international arrest warrant issued through Interpol. Ukrainian authorities have now been notified of the detention,” said Hellek Røe, a spokesperson for the Agder County Police.
On May 24, the Agder District Court ordered that the man be remanded in custody. Court documents reportedly reference materials provided by Ukrainian law enforcement agencies.
The suspect is accused of a series of financial crimes spanning several years, including allegations that he used his position at a financial institution to embezzle client funds.
Investigators say the case dates back to the summer of 2021, when the man was heading a bank branch in a small Ukrainian town. He reportedly disappeared after leaving for work in July that year and was later reported missing.
Authorities later located him at a hotel in another part of the country. He later left Ukraine after citing personal problems, according to court records.
Norwegian court documents state that he left Ukraine in July 2021 and that his whereabouts had remained unknown to Ukrainian authorities until his arrest in Norway.
