Political analyst accuses Yerevan of "failed diplomacy"
Armenian political analyst Suren Sargsyan has said that Armenian diplomacy has failed to achieve any serious goals over the past five years.
“There is no foreign policy in Armenia. Armenia's foreign policy has been recently based only on failures that have had severe consequences for the country. Today people talk much about the intensification of the Armenia-US relations, but after thorough consideration, it becomes obvious that all these contacts remain in the context of the US regional policy and nothing more,” he said, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Armenian media.
“Armenia and the US do not have a bilateral agenda,” he said.
Sargsyan noted that the US needs rapid settlement of conflicts in the region to oust Russia from the region in the conditions of global competition.
“Moreover, there is also little left of the strategic alliance between Armenia and Russia,” the political analyst said.
He said that there were many reasons for such affairs in Armenia-Russia relations, but the guilt of the Armenian side in this situation is also great. Along with the deterioration of relations with the Russian Federation, Armenia failed to create alternatives for itself.
“We had a big potential for developing relations with China, there were opportunities for cooperation in all spheres beginning from a military sphere and ending with business. However, nothing was achieved in this direction due to the lack of initiative and professionalism of the Armenian corresponding agencies,” Sargsyan said.
The political analyst added that instead of comparing its interests with the interests of the superpowers, Armenia was using contradictions and remained under the rubble of these contradictions.
