Political analyst: Armenian army cannot withstand Azerbaijan
Armenian political analyst, and researcher at the Caucasus Institute, Hrant Mikayelyan, has said the use of force against the Azerbaijani environmentalists on the Lachin road would have negative consequences for Armenia.
According to him, Azerbaijan has deployed rather strong military forces along the territory controlled by the illegal formation in Khankendi, and only afterwards, "blocked" the road.
“Accordingly, Azerbaijan has a very strong army. What about the Armenian side? From the Armenian side, I see that the army is weaker today than that on November 9, 2020. There is weaker discipline, weaker infrastructure, and even weaker personnel. I do not see the forces in the Armenian army that could oppose Azerbaijan,” he said, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Armenian media.
Mikaelyan noted that it is necessary to develop the strength of the Armenian army, but he does not see that this is being done.
“The weapons are purchased; however, the purchases are unsuccessful, and this does not mean anything. Moreover, the problem of the Armenian army today is not the availability of weapons. The command and control system is a complex issue of the participation of the entire state, which was not observed in 2020,” the expert said.
The political analyst added that, in general, there had never been such a full-fledged command and control system before, “but the command and control system of the troops has completely collapsed since 2020, there are incompetent military leadership in Armenia today, constant personnel reshuffling, there is nothing on the front line”.
