Political analyst: Russia Armenia’s most dangerous enemy
Armenian political analyst Suren Surenyants has said that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s recent statement may mark the beginning of a new era, but this era will not be based on the interests of Armenia and the Armenian people.
“There is a well-known phrase ‘patriotism is the last refuge of scoundrels’. It fully and completely reflects today’s realities and the actions that Pashinyan resorts to. The man who put the country on the verge of catastrophe, capitulation, civil clashes is trying to position himself as a defender of sovereignty,” Surenyants said, Caliber.Az reports citing the Armenian media.
He emphasised that after Pashinyan came to power, Armenia’s potential was zero.
The political analyst noted that even in the Soviet period, Armenia had more subjectivity than now.
“Before Pashinyan came to power, we had excellent relations with Russia, the US, Iran and Georgia. However, Pashinyan’s rhetoric and actions changed the situation. This person confused arrogance with independence, and this is an extremely dangerous mistake, because ‘cockfighting’ without resources does not lead to anything good. I have repeatedly noted that Russia is not the best friend, but it is the most dangerous enemy. Pashinyan’s actions intensify this hostility,” Surenyants said.
